Welcome to Amortentia! We're a unique personified animation site set in the HP universe. The second semester is in full swing, the Yule Ball is finished complete with our royalty poll, the Goblet of Fire ceremony has been conducted, and our champions for the Triwizard Tournament have been selected! The first task will be under way beginning in March. In the meantime we are wrapping up a Valentine's Hogsmeade Weekend and the champions are preparing themselves for the first task. The effects of an illegal truth serum finding its way into the punch bowl at the Yule Ball have rippled their way through the populace, resulting in the firing of two staff members and friendships made and broken. So fall into place and let your own stories unwind!
It’s always been about catching people when they fall.
"Nightwing, return to the cave with Robin and run communications drills."
What?! No! This was not at all what he had in mind. Cutting patrol short? Was Bruce serious? Ugh...Of course he was. That was just a stupid question. After a short pause, Dick swallowed his reluctance and pressed the comm button, ”understood.” As soon he let his finger off the ‘talk’ button, Dick sighed impatiently. This wasn’t fair. Dick had done his time. This was a waste of his time! But what could he do? He wasn’t about to argue with Bruce. It would be a fruitless act anyway.
To be honest, Dick normally didn’t have a problem picking extra training sessions with the others. He was glad to share the knowledge that he’d gained with Bruce over the years. But that night, Dick wasn’t exactly feeling the love for the newest Robin. There was a lot going through Dick’s head between Barbara, school, and Damian. Plus Damian’s little comments on Dick’s love life. Nightwing was not the biggest fan.
Utilizing the ‘rooftop express,’ Dick was bouncing down the alleyway in which he stored his bike. Wall to drain to fire escape and ground. The teen vigilante mounted the black motorcycle and ignited the engine. Speeding out of the alley, Nightwing shook his head as if trying to expel the frustration he felt with this new assignment. And if he was dreading the communication drills, he could only imagine the trouble Damian was going to give him the entire night. Kid better have been ready when he drove by, because Dick was ready for it to be over now. What a way to end spring break.
It didn’t take long at all for Nightwing to reach Damian’s area for patrol. Dick was just especially impatient with Damian and that whole night. It was probably the comments about Babs hating him if she found out it was him that was bothering Dick the most. It took quite a bit of restraint to not tell Damian that it wasn’t any of his business. And now he was missing out on patrol. Stopping in a dimly lit spot, Dick kept the motor running. ”Robin, thirteen hundredth block.”
Damian was not cool with the dead girls dressed as dolls. Things like that were not okay to begin with, and that was even worse. Then Grayson up and ditched him while still in the vicinity to said dead dolls. Ughh.
At least his patrol area had none of that. Just the usual low lives, and their "legit" dealings. Past midnight. Yeah no.
"Nightwing, return to the cave with Robin and run communications drills." Father had to be kidding. Really? Really. There was no arguing when he was in Batman mode. And Robin could tell in the way that Nightwing responded.
Well this was going to be 'fun.' Not. Silently, Robin dropped to the ground, not far from the people he would leave pinned for the police. He was going to at least get something done before being sent back to the cave.
Two well placed hits and a couple batarangs later, Damian drifted back to the darker shadows near the walls of the building, just as Nightwing called in. "Coming." He wasn't that far from that block anyways.
Damian spotted the bike and it's rider in the next patch of shadows. Grayson looked like his spandex was in a twist. Again, 'fun.' "Boo. Let's go."

No sooner had Damian situated himself on the back of the bike, Dick straightened the bike up and kicked off the pavement. The engine buzzed down the street, leaving nothing but silence in their wake as they weaved in and out of streets. Nightwing was uncharacteristically silent throughout the ride.
Not one who was overly fond of changing this particular routine, Dick wasn't thrilled. With any of this. It was going to be a very long night. As it was, the ride back felt like the walk of shame. Even as they pulled into one of the many well-concealed entrances to the cave, Dick felt like he was dragging. Stopping again, he leaned the bike over and he supported the weight on one leg. "Go get set up. I'll be right behind you." At least Damian going to get ready would save time while Dick put his bike away.
After the younger of the two dismounted, Dick parked the motorcycle in it's spot then went to join Damian in their communications drill. Dick approached the main area of the Batcave and was soon greeted by loud, echoing barks as a large dog came running down the stairs. Ace had been in the Cave when they left that night. He'd probably been 'exploring' while they'd been gone. Probably still asleep, not expecting the family to be home so early.
Taking a seat at a control panel, Nightwing greeted the german shepherd with lots of pets and a large smile. "Hey boy, you didn't think I'd be here yet, huh?" It wasn't like Ace had did anything wrong. Which is why when Dick looked up at Damian, who he'd all but ignored until this point, he went back to the cold shoulder. "You ready?"
Damian had to actually grab Grayson so the whiplash didn't make him inadvertently do a backflip over the exhaust pipe. Usually Damian was the one with the major mood and the attitude. Not tonight.
He wasn't even talking or bantering. Even scarier. Grayson had no problem bantering to Gordon, or the Dollmaker. But now? Brick wall.
"Uh huh." Damian didn't say much to begin with usually, and that wasn't about to change due to Grayson's mood at that moment.
Damian yanked his mask and cape off, and draped threw them onto a chair. He'd pick them up later. Besides...the rumbling coming from the next chair over would most definitely want to curl up and go back to sleep on them anyways.
He pulled the chair back to reveal a little tuxedo kitten, blinking sleepily at him. Alfred had not been expecting to be woken up so early. Damian scratched behind his ears, and then carefully scooped up the cat before setting him on the cape. Alfred murped and then fell asleep again, shedding in blissful kitten happiness.
Damian watched as Grayson came in, followed by Ace. That dog was seriously almost bigger than him if he stood up on his back legs. The younger boy made eye contact with Grayson. Still not happy. "Yeah. Depends if you're gonna say what's put a serious knot in your spandex." Damian plugged in his set of headphones and held the one for Grayson just out of reach. Something was up.
And it didn't have Damian exactly whelmed, to borrow one of Grayson's stupid words.
